Filmmaking was an outcome of Mayuri's keen interest in wildlife and nature ever since she was a child. Films seemed the best way to reach out to people about wildlife and conservation issues. 'Unearthed' was a reality show on Animal Planet that trained amateurs in wildlife filmmaking. When applications were invited for the second series, Mayuri jumped at the opportunity. Animal Planet selected just four people from thousands of applicants and Mayuri was chosen from Asia. 'Unearthed 2' aired as an eight-part series on Animal Planet. The four finalists were trained in a month-long course on wildlife filmmaking in South Africa.
